  This album embodies the raw passion and energy of the DIY independent spirit distilled down to a crystal of it's purist form. Opting for good ol fashioned dope beats and rhymes over fanfare, marketing, and big budget brainwashing, this album is nothing short of genuine and relentlessly honest. Despite having several successful records with underground cultish followings under his belt, 'Gold Bricks In The Wall' is Lush One's first solo album. It explores the innermost thoughts of a hustler living a tumultuous life while coming of age in West Los Angeles, Ca and beyond. It deals with the his conflicted mind as he transitions from the street life to fully immersing himself in his music. He paints a vivid and realistic picture of his life and surroundings, effortlessly weaving in and out of topics as diverse as civic pride and gentrification (on 'Ever West 310'), relationship politics (on 'Lesson Number 32'), self-imposed pressure and expectations ('Gracias'), marijuana escapism (on 'Roach Bowl Anthem') and much more. The album is based around the concept of each experience, struggle, and lesson that each individual learns in their life is represented by a brick in a wall that defines their inner strength. It is a deep subject matter, but Lush's straight forward yet clever and often very humorous narratives makes it all very easy to follow and digest. On top of that the diverse sonic pallete of the record is anchored by soulful yet pounding West Coast hip-hop beats. The production from up and coming indie mainstays such as Afinnity, Briefcase, J57, Optiks, DaAce, Cache, and Elaquent are very cohesive and original as well as minimalistic, allowing the listener to be eased into the lyrics. Rounding out the project is the carefully selected features from Lush's emcee and vocalist friends who happen to be some of most talented in the underground including Luckyiam, Cadalack Ron, Plex Rock, Kap Kallous, Soul Khan, Makeshift, Ezus, Jasmine Golan, and 2 features from up and coming top prospect PIstol McFly.
